MORE than half a neighbourhood group's budget has been designated for a St George's tenant's association, but councillors have said remaining money is "still waiting to be snapped up".

At a recent meeting of Lodge Park, Lakeside and St George's Neighbourhood Group, it was agreed the Lakeside and St George's Tenant's Association (LAGA) should be given £530 for equipment to be used by residents of Beoley Road, Phillips Terrace and St George's sheltered accommodation.

Among other items the group will benefit from a new electronic bingo machine and a dartboard for its community hall.

Labour councillor Andy Fry said he was pleased some of the £1,000 budget, which is made available yearly to Redditch neighbourhood groups, would be put to good use, but said other groups in the area seemed less than eager to apply for remaining funds.

"This money has been set aside for the use of organisations in the area, but is still waiting to be snapped up," he said.

Interested groups should make their applications to Chris Smith, director of Redditch Borough Council, at Redditch Town Hall.
