CASUALTY star Loo Brearley leaves her nurse uniform behind for a part in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from Friday.
Better known as Roxy Bird in the BBC series, Loo appeared for the final time on the September 12 episode having played the role since 2002.
In the production, set partly in the 19th century and partly in the present day, she plays naive 13-year-old prodigy Thomasina Coverly.
Described as "part detective story, part love story", Arcadia concerns a fateful weekend in 1810 at the Derbyshire country estate of the Coverly family.
A spokesman said: "In a room sits Lady Croom's brilliant adolescent daughter, Thomasina Coverly, with her tutor Septimus Hodge, friend to Lord Byron, who is also staying at the house.
"180 years later, academic hack Bernard Nightingale arrives to uncover the scandal of what happened that weekend. He thinks he may be on to a critical and commercial winner. But is he right?"
Starring with Loo Brearley is Blake Ritson as Septimus Hodge and John Hodgkinson as Bernard Nightingale. Arcadia plays from Friday until Saturday, November 13, with evening performances and matinee shows available. Tickets, priced £10-£20.75, are available from the box office on 0121 236 4455 or online at www.birmingham-rep.co.uk
