READING the letter from 'Appalled' prompted me to write as my husband and I saw the production of Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell.
We knew what the play was about when we went so knew what to expect. We were full of admiration for the production. Martin Bourne was on stage the whole evening and gave a very convincing performance of the drunken and dissolute Jeffrey Bernard.
I cannot see how one could portray him without the "strong language" - it just would not be in character.
This very demanding role was excellently complemented by the rest of the cast, which made this yet another enjoyable evening at the Norbury; the theatre that needs our unconditional support.
