I WISH to draw attention to the treatment of pensioners.
Many, like myself, paid our stamp, income tax plus all the other dues for 50 years and went without luxuries to save for a home and a little nest egg so as to enjoy extra treats on retiring.
Now we must have a means test to claim a humble income. Because I have savings I get no help. Use your savings they tell me.
We pay a higher percentage of council tax and use the least of the facilities than any other group. Council tax is £22 a week, water £6.
The costs of gas, electricity and house insurance are all rising just to give pay rises to management.
And they give me a means test!
