Ken Turbutt got a surprise when he paid his first ever visit to an optician - he picked up a free pair of specs as their 10,000th customer.
The family firm of Chapmans handed over a pair of titanium half-rimmed Silhouette glasses, worth around £250, to mark the second anniversary of their move to new premises in High Street, Bromsgrove.
Ken, aged 58, of Fold Farm Cottage, Chaddesley Corbett, said his wife Caroline had been looked after by the long-established family firm but he hadn't needed glasses until recently.
"I am recovering from a heart condition and have been having trouble reading, so I booked an eye test," he said.
"It was a complete surprise when they told me I'd won. I was very pleased. I can see perfectly with them."
