A BUDDING poet at a town school is celebrating with fellow pupils after winning a writing competition.
Rachel Shilvock, from South Bromsgrove High, came first in the 13-16 age group in a poetry competition run by Ottaker's bookstore in the High Street.
Year nine pupil Rachel won her age group with her poem called A Child's Fear.
The school also had three runners-up in the same age group. They were James Mobley, Rachna Matharu and Louise Clarke, all aged 13.
Each pupil won a poetry book, with Rachel also getting a certificate and a drawing from poet Chris White.
English teacher Louise Colley said: "We are very pleased with Rachel's achievement. She really deserved her prize. She used her initiative and creativity brilliantly. The runners-up also produced poems of an equally high standard."
