A PRIEST from Thailand has been in Bromsgrove to thank pupils at a town school for supporting an orphanage in the Far East.
Father Philip Banchong visited St Peter's to meet children and tell them about the work of the orphanage in Pattaya.
Youngsters from St Peter's have raised more than £2,300, which is enough money to give education and shelter to two children for six years. Fundraising activities included a raffle, a non-uniform day and a sponsored walk.
As well as generating funds, the children have also undertaken projects to help them understand Thai culture. These include working with fabrics, Thai cooking, dancing and games. The orphanage in Pattaya is home to more than 700 Thai youngsters. It also serves as a drop-in centre, school for the blind and young persons job centre.
