THE Old Woman who lived in a Shoe has never looked sweeter than in a new exhibition at Droitwich Spa Library.

CREATION: Gill Jones with new chairman Ann Newton and one of her exhibits.

The Wychavon branch of the British Sugarcraft Guild has used children's nursery rhymes as inspiration for its latest exhibition.

Visitors to the show, which runs until November 13, can marvel at the delicately crafted models of characters such as Hickory Dickory Dock and Baa Baa Black Sheep.

The collection of sugarcraft nursery rhyme characters was also taken to a major sugarcraft exhibition in June.

Other attractions at the library, which runs during normal opening hours, include sugarcraft flowers, figures and plaques.

Committee member Gill Jones said: "The purpose of the exhibition is to encourage new members and show off the work of existing members - from beginners, right through to the more advanced."

Every Friday between 1 and 3pm and Saturday from 10am until noon, members of the guild will be demonstrating their skills and answering questions.

The thriving group meets every second Tuesday of the month in the John Corbett room of the Community Centre in Heritage Way and

is chaired by Ann Newton. Mrs Jones joined the group about three years ago and said it is always looking to welcome new members. "We are a very friendly group and we meet to share with each other our skills and experiences."

As well as regular demonstrations from professional craftspeople, the club enjoys trips out to the cake decoration show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

"It is open to anyone, even if they have never done any sugarcraft before but feel they might like to have a go," she added. For more details call Gill on 01905 453202.
