THE letter from Heather Wersocki regarding Studley bypass (Advertiser, October 13) has caused me to write.
I attended both public inquiries and am totally appalled by the outcome but not surprised.
I felt at the inquiry it was an expensive waste of time and Jacqui Smith's input only representative of a minority of NIMBYS.
Heather Wersocki's input was accurate, both historically and factually. It was the only honest and unbiased evidence given to the inquiry. She was applauded and rightly so.
When I returned from holiday on September 25 I found a letter from Ms Smith expressing delight at the outcome of the inquiry.
Ms Smith was elected to represent all constituents and not to support the dictatorial policies of central government.
Her letter gives thanks to Brian Danks and enclosed a copy of a letter from him to yourselves. On the back was a map of the alleged route in Redditch. This map is incorrect.
The proposed route in fact runs from the Rough Hill/Alcester Highway roundabout, not from the Woodrow Drive/Rough Hill roundabout. So we have our MP and SERRAG appearing to use incorrect information at a public inquiry.
The result of this crass political decision is south Redditch - Woodrow Drive, Rough Hill, Astwood Bank and The Slough - may have lost the only logical relief route from the A441 traffic.
Those who claim planning blight bought their properties in the knowledge or ignorance of the route. The ignorant only have themselves to blame but, by their selfish actions, have left those of us who did their homework to live with worsening traffic, morning, evening and through the night.
The hospital entrance roundabout and road changes for the so-called safer routes to school have led to slow moving, low- gear traffic with the resulting noise and pollution.
Congratulations to Ms Smith, Mr Danks and Co, whose actions have left Woodrow Drive, Rough Hill, Astwood Bank, The Slough, as well as Studley, with an unresolved and worsening problem after 30-plus years.
Well done, a classic "I'm all right, Jack."

PS: Recently, I had reason to thank Ms Smith for help with a problem. It saddens me to write this letter but life is full of brickbats and bouquets.
