PLANS are back on track to place a memorial to the millions who died in the Holocaust near St Stephen's Church in Redditch.
The memorial was rejected by Redditch Council last year when it was proposed to place it near the fountain in Church Green.
This time however, plans have been submitted to place it the other side of the church opposite the Litten Tree pub.
The memorial was originally designed by Redditch youngster Chase Lloyd and realised by artist and sculptor Andy Decomyn.
It represents not just the slaughter of the Jews in the Second World War but countless others who lost their lives through human rights abuses in the last century.
The council rejected its location near the fountain because it would "interrupt important views of a listed structure" and create a "cluttered" appearance.
Rev Andrew Smith, of St Stephen's Church, said at the time he felt the refusal was more down to "taste" than for planning reasons.
