THE speaker at the October meeting was wildlife photographer Peter Preece.
Peter has taken photographss of a variety of birds but concentrated his talk on the more common garden birds.
He has been successful in many competitions.
Members were told how he collected all sorts of bird food to attract a particular species. Acorns and nuts for pigeons and jays, flower seed for tits.
He would also rub the bark of a tree with lard and this attracted the woodpecker. Maggots and ground bait were also good to use.
He arranges his hide in front of the site that he hopes to attract the birds to.
All this preparation was rewarded with some very natural-looking picturess.
Members were invited to take part in an auction. Shel Dale successfully auctioned goods that members had brought in with all money raised going towards next year's birthday celebrations.
The next meeting is on November 2 at Beoley Village Hall at 7.30pm. The competition is for a foliage arrangement in a shell.
