A BUILDING has been destroyed in a blaze that swept through a Lakeside car recovery business in Arthur Street, Redditch, on Sunday.

Redditch fire fighters were drafted in at around 6pm to tackle the fire, which took around three hours to extinguish completely.

Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade called out its Environmental Protection Unit, which is based at Stourport, when it realised acetylene cylinders containing gas were contained inside the hut.

Fire fighter Nigel Smart said during the blaze, several of the cylinders caused small explosions, - but no one was hurt.

He said the cause of the fire was not known and investigations would continue, although it is not thought to be suspicious.
