PLOUGHING CONTEST: An impressive set of vintage tractors took part in the ploughing contest in Harry Smith's field at Barton Crossroads on Sunday. Although conditions were wet the old tractors seemed to cope.
BULBS: Four volunteers planted crocus bulbs next to the car park at Bidford on Saturday in spite of the weather. The bulbs are supplied by the parish council in aid of breast cancer research.
FAIR: A Memorabilia and Collectors' Fair is being held from 10am to 4pm on Sunday at the Crawford Hall. Admission £1, profits to the Brain Tumour Association.
GARDENING SOCIETY: The speaker at the October meeting was Valerie Carver, who spoke of her work as a garden designer.
The next meeting of the society is on Thursday November 18 when the annual meeting will take place. The chairman, Joan Kerr, urged all members to attend the meeting. The committee is always looking for new ideas and new people to come forward to help. After the business meeting, members will enjoy a social evening. The secretary, Annette Haines, will give an illustrated talk on the gardens of Madeira and the Canary Islands and this will be followed by refreshments.
