RIVER FESTIVAL: Congratulations have been offered to Meg and Steve Hanlon on the river festival they organised on August Bank Holiday. In addition to giving entertainment to many, they raised around £2,000 for Save the Children and Bredon Playgroup. They plan to make this an annual event and anyone interested in getting involved can phone 773166.
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: The annual coffee morning is in the village hall on Tuesday, November 9 at 10am.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Previously known as 'love in a box', is being organised once again from St Giles' Church. Leaflets explaining what to do are available in the church. Filled boxes can be dropped off either at the school office, or at Stonecroft, Bredon before November 15. They can also be brought to the church on Sundays only.
HALL AGM: Bredon village hall trustees' AGM will take place on Wednesday November 24 at 7pm in the Jubilee Room. Representatives of those organisations which use the hall regularly are particularly asked to attend. It is hoped that families with young children will be represented so that the management may better reflect the needs of those who make most use of the hall. For information phone the chairman on 773665.
LUNCHEON CLUB: When the WRVS re-organised themselves earlier this year, Michael Needham stepped down from his position as local co-ordinator. Now he has agreed to act as a point of contact over the possible establishment of a lunch club. He is asking whether anyone is interested in attending such a club. It may start on a fortnightly basis, progression to weekly at sometime in the future. Phone Michael on 772689.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: This will be marked by a service at St Giles Church at 10.50am on November 14. The AGM of the local Royal British Legion Branch will take place in Bredon village hall on Monday, November 8 at 7.45pm. The Poppy Appeal coffee morning will be in the village hall from 10am on Tuesday November 9.
The Chairman, Mr Brian Lewis, says that all adults may join the organisation, whether they have served in the Forces or not. Valuable welfare and social support continues to be given by the Royal British Legion to ex-service men and women and to their spouses and dependants. Please give generously for those who have given much for our benefit.
