PARISH COUNCIL: Notes from the meeting held on October 18:
Resignation: Cllr J Cartwright tendered her resignation, which was accepted.
Pool Garden: The cradle swing had been repaired. It was agreed to obtain two more quotes for the cutting of the hedge around the area.
The Pound: It was agreed by the meeting for the clerk to proceed with the conditional offer made to rent the Pound for a period of two years with the proviso that the old tin shed could be removed. Planning permission in a conservation area would have to be obtained, if necessary.
Village Hall Committee: Villagers have been invited to a meeting on Monday to discuss the future management of the village hall.
Appearance of Pavilion and Recreation Ground: It was agreed that suitable shrubs could be purchased and planted.
Parish Plan: It was agreed Cllrs Stephens and McDonald should discuss how to proceed and the council would abide by their recommended solution in trying to get something happening. WCC Cllr Eyre said it was in the interest of the parish council to do something. Each councillor was asked to bring five specific questions to the next meeting in November.
Footpaths: Cllr Mills reported satisfaction with the service being provided by the probationary service. It had been noticed that the verges to the north of the railway bridge had been churned up by local tractors. The chairman is to approach local growers to try and find out who is responsible in order for them to put matters right.
Dog Mess: It was reported that someone was throwing their dog fouling bags into the southwest corner of the recreation ground as they exited through the gate. If the culprit could not be identified it would be necessary to post a sign on the gate asking them to take it home with them or use the dog bin in the car park.
recycling Facilities: Cllr Worthington requested that recycling facilities be provided within the parish. It was agreed that this should be put on the agenda for the next meeting.
Bypass Compensation: Cllr Mills had information concerning compensation with respect to those affected by the Wyre Piddle bypass, if anyone was interested.
Next meeting: Monday, November 15 at 7.30pm in the Pavilion.
