STOURPORT were on the wrong end of a one goal deficit for the fourth time in five games as they went down 5-4 in an entertainingNational League Premier Two encounter away at Bowdon.

Bowdon's young side started the brighter of the two teams, their fast forward line causing Stourport's defence problems straight away.

Captain Phil Lashford's men were unable to settle on the ball, not adapting well to the bouncy pitch, while Bowdon's committed approach saw them pressurise Stourport high up the pitch.

Stourport did have the first chance of the game, Mark Edwards creating space for himself in the "D", but nudged off the ball just as he was set to shoot at goal.

Stourport waited for the umpire's whistle only for play to go on, Bowdon's Oliver Cooper running through several challenges before firing past keeper Hendy to open the scoring on 6 minutes.

A few minutes later, Stourport were on the wrong end of another harsh umpiring decision as Stu Hendy was adjudged to have brought down a Bowdon forward in the "D", even though the Stourport keeper appeared to take the ball cleanly.

Fortunately for Stourport the resulting penalty stroke was put wide and Imran Yousaf levelled the scores five minutes later converting Sto-urport's first penalty corner of the game.

His brother Irfan Yousaf then opened his own National League account, brilliantly finishing in the top right hand corner after a mazy run through the Bowdon defence.

The game went from end to end with both sides defence remaining solid until Bowdon worked an excellent short corner routine to level the scores on 27 minutes through Matt Freeman to take the half time scores to 2-2.

Bowdon started the brighter in the second half and Cooper scored his second goal of the game via a short corner shot into the roof of the net.

Another free-flowing Bowdon move resulted in a penalty stroke converted by David Egerton followed by a 48th minute goal by Ian Wilson.

At 5-2 the game looked over but Stourport kept going forward pulling a goal back through Dave Westhead's deflection into the top right hand corner of the goal, followed by Imran Yousaf's second on the hour to put Stourport within a goal.

Despite 10 minutes of pressure and a last ditch short corner, Stourport were unable to pull back an equaliser and will reflect on another tight game where individual errors proved costly.

Stourport have a week off next week with regional divisional tournaments across the country, Stourport's Mark Edwards captains the Midland U15 side at the tournament to be held at Belle Vue, Manchester.
