KIDDERMINSTER needed a win to stop the slide down the West Midlands Premier League, and after a good battle, they beat Solihull Blossomfield 5-4.

Newly relegated Blossomfield put Kidderminster under early pressure, but the hosts went into the lead with goals for Matt Edwards and Tom Jarvie.

Blossomfield got on level terms as the exposed Kidderminster back line were unable to copy with renewed pressure.

The visitors took the lead before half-time, while Kidderminster suffered some disputed umpiring decisions.

After the break, with the rain now heavy and the normally reliable King Charles I School pitch getting saturated, play became difficult, and somewhat scrappy.

After 10 minutes Rob Sorrell saw his chance after a melee in the Blossomfield "D", and hit the ball past the goalkeeper.

Neil Jackson and Edwards capped good performances with goals, Jackson unlucky not to add another as he saw his superb effort just wide.

Although Blossomfield scored a fourth goal they did not have the fight in them to match this determined Kidderminster squad and could find no way back into the game.

On Saturday Kidderminster will travel to Solihull-based Old Silhillians, expecting a physical game.

Kidderminster fourths had their chances in the first half against Halesowen, but their visitors managed to score two goals in each half and the younger members of Kidderminster were lacking in fire power at the front.

Young Jamie Knott gave a good performance in goal, and shows great promise, but new boy Andy Kimberley at right half was Man-of-the-match.

Next Kidderminster fourths are away to Barford Tigers, in their latest Fathoms League fixture.
