CHADDESLEY are on an upward curve as they gained their first point of the season in atrocious conditions away at Berkswell and Balsall Common.
In fact it could easily have been victory that they were celebrating were it not for a late deflected equaliser forcing a 1-1 draw.
A revamped defence coped easily with Berkswell's attacks and Chaddesley always looked lively on the break through the darting runs of Will Mack and Sam Boden down the right.
Sadly the final ball kept letting Chaddesley down, with Matt Boden the most culpable, twice shooting from acute angles with others in better positions.
Their goal finally came midway through the second half when Jay Da Costa held off a couple of challenges to set up Matt Boden who lashesd home.
Andy Green was again in commanding form at centre back, as was Nick Hemmings, whose composure will be missed next week.
It was a surprise when the defence was breached as the clock ticked down.
Hemmings it was who unfortunately deflected a shot that would have missed the target into the unguarded goal.
Despite the late blow, Chaddesley will entertain Atherstone Adders this weekend in good spirits.
The tactical changes worked well last weekend and Jim Webster returns to bolster the squad.
