TOOLS were stolen from a van parked in Cookley after its window was smashed.
A small, grey canvas bag, which contained items including maps, screwdrivers and spanners, together with a Nokia mobile phone, was taken from the LDV Convoy van in Beech Tree Lane, at around 2pm on Tuesday last week.
The driver, who worked for an Oxfordshire firm, had been carrying out work in the Wyre Forest area.
The value of the items stolen was about £100, while £150 worth of damage was caused.
PC Ian White, Kidderminster police's crime prevention manger, said: "Drivers might imagine their vehicles are safe in a rural area but they should never leave anything on display because it is a prime invitation to smash and grab.
"Even an old coat can be an appealing target for thieves."
He added: "Notices to hang from a wing mirror which, on one side state 'secured', as a message to thieves and, on the other side, remind drivers to ensure there are no valuables on display, the windows are shut and the door locked and the alarm or immobiliser activated, are available from police stations."
