CHADDESLEY Corbett seem to have put their poor start to the West Midlands League division two season behind them with a deserved 2-1 win over high-flyers Ellesmere.
Making their debuts for Chaddesley were strikers Martin Morris and Steve Kidd, with Richard Hall playing alongside the experienced Mark Dearlove at centre back.
The first half was entertaining, with Morris, Kidd, and the outstanding Jordan Tipper all having chances.
At the other end Ellesmere threatened, but Chaddesley dealt with the attack.
Soon after the break Ellesmere scored with a long through ball which skidded past the oncoming goalkeeper, Simon Wright, to leave Wayne Withers the opportunity to fire home.
Chaddesley then stepped up a gear and were rewarded when a cross eluded goalkeeper Matthew Jones and find the back of the net, thanks to Duncan Palmer.
After some more frantic defending, Dearlove powerfully headed the winner home following a corner.
Dearlove felt the debut players had performed well.
He said: "You can sense we are building a good side. I am glad I signed."
Chaddesley host league leaders Malvern Rangers in another tough test at Long-more on Satuurday, kick-off 2.45pm.
