AFTER reading about a new cinema plan for Kidderminster in the Shuttle/Times and News two weeks ago, I was filled with hope that we were finally going to get one.
Thanks must go to Simon Swaffield, who is putting up quite a considerable amount of his own money to give the town this much-needed facility.
Then this week it seems the council may quash this plan as they want a "big name" cinema operator to come to town. We have already had two plans fail for various reasons. Are we about to lose out again?
Mr Swaffield's plan is for a three or four-screen cinema. Surely this would be big enough for Wyre Forest and surrounding area. If we had a 10-screen or similar would there be enough people to fill the seats and keep it open?
I am a single father and am looking forward to Mr Swaffield's cinema opening in the new year.
The council needs a swift kick. They should back this application and give Mr Swaffield the support he deserves - and the townsfolk a much-needed cinema.
