CHILDREN at a Vale school have been learning about the exotic cultures of different countries during a special week of lessons.

Pupils from Holy Redeemer Primary School in Pershore were taught about the differences in religion and customs from countries as far apart as Holland and China. Last week they enjoyed a selection of activities, ranging from plate decorating to Indian dancing.

Headteacher Hilary Rowland said: "We thought it was an important thing to do. Pershore is an area where we are quite isolated from other cultures and our school is predominantly white European. As our country is now multi-ethnic we need to give the children the opportunity of exploring the similarities and differences of other cultures."
