ON Friday, October 8, my husband and I had to stand aside in Lombard Street, Stourport, to make way for a lady riding a battery-operated scooter.
These vehicles are a godsend for people with mobility problems, but this one was positively dangerous.
We estimate that she was travelling at around 10mph, definitely at running, not walking, speed, very close to the shop fronts.
If anyone had stepped out of a doorway she would have run into their legs at speed. A small child could have been badly injured.
We were too stunned to speak to the lady and, travelling at such a ridiculous speed, she was quickly out of earshot.
If you own this kind of scooter, please be aware that it is designed to help you "walk" around the shops. Driven at speed you could easily injure someone.
