JAN Molby today resigned from his position as director of football at Kidderminster Harriers.
Youth team manager Shaun Cunnington has been placed in temporary charge of team affairs.
Molby announced his decision to end his Aggborough association this morning with the club rooted to the bottom of the Football League.
His last game in charge was Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat at Chester City - their seventh away defeat in succession.
Names including Colin Lee, Chris Turner and Bobby Gould have been linked with the vacant manager's post.
Molby will be forever remembered at Kidderminster for helping the club fulfil their dream of league football after leading them to promotion in 2000 during his first season.
He left Aggborough in March 2002 to take over the hot-seat at Hull City before returning in October last year as Ian Britton's replacement.
The former Liverpool legend managed to keep Harriers but their current League Two campaign has been plagued by injury problems and a loss of confidence among his young squad.
Chairman Colin Youngjohns said: "Both Jan and ourselves are united in our disappointment at the league position the club currently finds itself in.
"Results haven't gone the way we would have hoped and Jan's task has been made all the more difficult by the horrendous injury problems we have suffered.
"The club needs a spark to re-ignite our season and Jan felt it would be best if someone else tried to do that.
Youngjohns thanked Molby for his efforts and said the Dane will go down in Harriers history for what he achieved in his first spell.
"First and foremost he was the guy responsible for making Kidderminster Harriers achieve its dream of playing in the Football League four years ago," he said.
"People will talk with affection about Jan Molby for many years to come at Aggborough, and rightfully so.
Cunnington will pick the team for Saturday's crunch visit of struggling Shrewsbury, who are also without a manager following Jimmy Quinn's resignation last week.
He will be assisted by Molby's number two Gary Barnett.
A decision on who will replace Molby as manager on a permanent basis will be made in due course but Youngjohns stressed no impulse decisions will be made.
