On October 20 member Ivor Quinton gave a talk on the "History of explosions". He related in detail the qualities of materials used, starting with Greek fire, saltpetre (originally from Chile), nitro glycerine (invented in Italy in 1847) and dynamite and finished with a talk on the production and use of the atom bomb.

The next meeting will be at Chester Road Bowling Club on Wednesday at 2.15pm when Margaret Rogers and others will entertain with songs and poetry.
