IT'S disappointing that we have failed to pick up at least one win from our two Nationwide North games at Southport and Vauxhall Motors this week.

We have found ourselves drawing both matches 2-2 -- but there were opportunities to come away with much more.

The players showed a lot of character at Southport and, in all honesty, I would have taken a point before the fixture.

But I'm frustrated with last night's draw at Vauxhall Motors because we should have seen the game out after twice taking the lead.

I thought we played well first-half and I think with a bit more nous in our play up front we should have scored at least a couple of goals.

We scored the once with Nick Colley. It was an outstanding goal and that should have seen us home.

But they came out and had a go in the second-half, and I was disappointed because we dropped off the pace a little bit and gave them the opportunity to get back into the game.

There are two sides to football, when you have the ball and when the opposition has the ball. I felt that when Vauxhall got the ball after half-time, it was if they had more men than us at times.

They seemed to by-pass our midfield players and we encouraged them to come at us.

Everybody wants to be on the ball but you can't get away without doing the nasty things like tracking runners, picking up players and tackling.

We just didn't do enough of that and we got punished for it.

We took the lead again with Leon Kelly and it was a great goal from a terrific cross. I was pleased for Leon because he needed that after going a long time without a goal.

But then we surrendered the initiative again. They scored another equaliser which I felt was a miscued cross and we are back to square one.

Adam Webster then struck the bar and James Coates made a couple of excellent saves.

In the end, towards the last quarter of the game, we were grateful for a share of the spoils given the amount of possession they were having.

To be fair, we fielded three players who have not had that much football lately, Mark Owen, John Snape and Paul Carty, while Pat Lyons has been carrying a bit of a groin strain.

They are all not quite 100 per cent right now.

We have got to stick at it, keep our heads up and keep plugging away, because that's all we can do at the moment.

I would love nothing more than a 1-0 win against Altrincham this Saturday because I'm getting fed up with these 2-2 draws.
