I, LIKE many other Evesham residents, read your front page report in last week's Journal in which it was confirmed that Vale MP Mr Peter Luff, with the closing of the Co-op in the Riverside Centre, intends to support the town in its efforts to find an alternative central location for its post office.
It was also reported that Mr Luff had written to Adam Crozier, chief executive of the Royal Mail, and, in addition to other observations, had stated that since the post office had been located in the Co-op, Evesham residents had suffered a second rate service. I am of the opinion that such a sweeping statement should be more explicit.
To my knowledge our current post office provides all the services normally associated with a post office and it also enhances this service to the community by providing a competitive first class bureau de change.
The management and staff at the Riverside post office are a dedicated group of people who provide an excellent and professional service, and, in addition, are always pleasant and caring.
It is to be hoped that when relocated the new post office will retain the current management and staff and eliminate any second rate service known to, but not detailed by, Mr Luff.
FRANK BACK, Briar Close, Evesham.
