FEARS that parts of Worcestershire could flood have subsided as the level of the River Severn is now expected to start dropping after the weekend.
The Evening News reported on Monday how flood alerts had been placed on the Severn Valley as the county braced itself for a week of heavy wind and rain.
But there are no longer any flood warnings in place and Evening News weatherman Paul Damari is expecting a dryer spell to set in over the next few days.
"Half an inch of heavy rain is expected to hit Worcestershire this evening but dryer weather will follow in the days ahead causing the river level to fall," he said.
"The storms we've had in places in the past few days, where people have had winds of up to 50mph behind them will be dying down.
"There will be heavy rain early Saturday which will gradually die away and then we will get at least five to seven days dryer weather."
