Some reminders of regular activities at Welland Village Hall. Mondays are short mat bowls days played from 1.30pm to 4pm. Tuesday evenings, from 8pm, there is a whist drive in aid of the Acorns Children's Hospice (there are good prizes, a raffle and refreshments available).
Tomorrow (Saturday) at Welland Church (St James'), a concert given by the popular Greenwood Voices whom you may remember gave us a very pleasant concert earlier on this year. The time is 7.30pm, entry is £5 and £2 for children (to include refreshments in the interval). The programme will consist of madrigals, excerpts from Gilbert & Sullivan, a selection of items from Oklahoma, humorous items, close harmony and musical anecdotes. All proceeds will go to the Church Lighting Fund.
Sunday sees the church hosting an alternative halloween party (6.30pm-7.30pm). Come as your favourite sports star, pop idol, super-hero or yourself! All will be welcome, however under-7's accompanied by an adult please. No tricks - just treats.
On November 4, St James' Church, the Welland Youth Group will be hosting an opening of the Undercroft (a room by and for the young people of Welland to meet and socialise). It will be from 7-8pm and wine and snacks will be available.
The grand annual jumble sale in aid of St James Church will be held in the village hall at 2pm on Saturday, November 6. Entry only 20p. Bric-a-brac, bargains and nearly new. To donate for this event, ring 01684 310289.
Lastly, Welland Brownies' mini-charities fayre will take place on Wednesday, November 17 at the village hall from 6pm-7.30pm. Cakes, games, stalls, raffle and refreshments will be available.
