The Friends of Bosbury School (FOBS) hold their firework display and barbecue on the school playing field on Monday, November 8, at 6.30pm. Always a popular family entertainment, they look forward to your support again this year.
Another way of supporting our village school is by joining their 100 Club. The club raises money to help purchase school and play equipment and is an effective essential fundraiser. If you would like to participate, please contact Angela Mowbray (FOBS).
Following the series of very successful and fully subscribed courses earlier this year, computer courses will again be held at Bosbury Parish Hall on Wednesdays from November 3 to December 8 under the title Computing for Rural Areas. Holme Lacy College will present three sessions on each day - older and bolder beginners, It to promote the rural business and e-mail and internet. Arts Alive brings North Country Theatre to Bosbury again this autumn. Their previous productions in the Parish Hall have attracted a very appreciative audience. The Confessions of Brother Wormwood is the tale of the brothers of St Adelbert's gathered around their old infirmerer to administer the last rites. As the death bell tolls from the tower, Brother Wormwood has something to get off his chest before he meets his maker and the tale he tells of forbidden love, Faustian pacts, miracles and murder makes their blood run cold. The following Friday, November 19, Arts Alive - Flicks in the Sticks screen the award winning film Cold Mountain at 7.30pm in the parish hall.
On Saturday, November 20, Bosbury Church and Bosbury Parish Hall invite you to their Christmas fair. A variety of stalls stocked with Christmas gifts and goodies, 10.30am to noon. Entrance 50p to include a cup of coffee and a biscuit. All proceeds to be shared between the church and the hall. Your support would be much appreciated.
Another forward date for your diary. Advent Sunday will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Bosbury with a Taize service on November 28 at 6.30pm. A quiet meditative service with readings, prayers and silences. The candlelit service will include simple but uplifting chants led by the church choir and solo instrumentalists. All are welcome.
This Sunday, at 3pm at Holy Trinity Bosbury, a special All Saints service to remember those who have departed this life, especially those in the past year. The Reverend Sue Strutt extends a warm welcome to you all to attend this service.
