THE natural beauty of the Malvern Hills has been showcased in hundreds of calendars.

But a totally different aspect of the local scene is documented in a new calendar for 2005 - Roundabouts of Malvern.

The calendar is the brainchild of Carl Pitt, of Tennyson Drive, Malvern, and Kevin Beresford, who owns a Redditch print company.

"It was just an idea we came up with in the pub," said Carl.

They started three years ago with Roundabouts of Redditch and now they cover over 20 towns and sold 30,000 calendars last year.

The original Roundabouts of Redditch was given a nationwide boost when it was featured by TV star Graham Norton on his Channel 4 show.

They have also produced a book about the nation's roundabouts, unsurprisingly entitled Round-abouts of Britain. This has also been a great success, with some 20,000 copies sold in the three weeks since publication.

Roundabouts of Malvern features the 11 roundabouts that Carl and Kevin could find in Malvern and Upton, plus an extra one from the Costa del Sol to finish it off.

Marked in the calendar are not only the bank holidays and other important dates that every calendar features, but also some more whacky anniversaries.

These include February 18: snow fell in the Sahara, 1979, and April 11: pillar box first installed by the post office, 1855.

Roundabouts of Malvern is available by mail order on 01527 520977, priced at £8 plus £2 postage and packing.
