Two landmarks in Malvern Wells may be given a new lease of life.
Malvern Wells parish council is hoping to take out a ten year lease on a Victorian fountain, on the junction of the Wells Road and Green Lane. The lease would allow the council to apply for grants to restore the fountain, which is overgrown and in disrepair, to its former glory.
The council also intends to approach the owner of the land behind the fountain, to discuss purchasing the land, which it could then manage.
Coun Martin Thomas said at a meeting of the council on Wednesday: "We hope that if we can take possession of the land we can improve the area around the fountain."
Councillors will also look into work to improve the war memorial, also situated on the Wells Road.
"It's beginning to look rather shabby," said Coun Thomas.
"We want to open it up and make it look more presentable."
The council will arrange for the removal of vegetation and saplings around the memorial, to make it more visible from the road. Plans to create a garden of remembrance in the cemetery of Malvern Wells church have also been announced.
