I UNDERSTAND the iron bridge which crosses Orchard Lane may fall foul of the Disability Discrimination Act (Ledbury Reporter, October 15).
I use a four-wheel electric scooter and have several times crossed this bridge with ample room to spare on either side. If, however, the present bridge is considered too narrow, it should not be demolished but replaced by a wider structure.
The road crossing from the town walk is adequate for cyclists and the able-bodied but traffic coming round the bend in the road from Long Acres can be a hazard for children and those who move more slowly and the path back on to the far side of the town trail is very steep for a wheelchair.
I realise a new bridge would be expensive, but I hope due consideration can be given to the points raised.
MRS D ANNE ATKIN, St Katherine's, High Street, Ledbury.
