A FLYING squad of green-fingered villagers is needed to spruce up the shabby Studley landscape.
That's the message from village councillors, who are still reeling from the humiliation of getting no marks in the 1977 Tidy Village Contest.
Committee leaders are hoping to form a team of volunteers who can be drafted in to tidy up overgrown sections of the village.
Councillors hope the trouble-shooters will work on a rota basis where their main targets will be churchyards and in gardens of elderly and disabled people.
Meanwhile, with this year's Tidy Village Contest only a few weeks away, villagers are being urged to spend more time in their gardens and allotments.
"We don't want a repetition of 1977," said village clerk Jim Clarke.
