A ONE-man campaign is being waged to keep Winyates allotments in tip-top shape.
Keen gardener Mr Les Drew has carefully tended the allotment site ever since it started over two years ago.
But now he is appealing for help from other plot holders to give him a hand with the work.
"There is so much that needs doing but not enough time to do it all in.
"I could certainly do with some help," said Mr Drew, of Prestbury Close, Winyates Green.
Spending many hours a week, Mr Drew, aged 35, does all the mowing, plants hedges, puts up fences, clears the brook and digs trenches to enable plotholders to water their crops.
Secretary of Winyates Allotments, Mr Des Adams, said: "Many plotholders are apathetic about helping out in the gardens.
"The allotments would probably fall into a terrible state if it wasn't for Mr Drew's keenness in keeping everything in order."
