A GROUP of businessmen has announced plans to ease Redditch's hotel shortage by converting a large 19th century house into an overnight stopping place for visiting businessmen.
Redditch councillors have been asked to give permission for the Cedars in Cedar Park Road to be turned into an hotel.
The building dates from 1840 and is being considered for listing as a building of architectural and historic importance.
An Alcester civil engineer, who is considering the venture with some business associates, said: "There is a very serious shortage of hotel space in Redditch.
"We will be aiming for the top end of the market, somewhere for international businessmen to stay."
