Cash-conscious councillors have trimmed the name of Redditch's sports centre to save ratepayers' money.
They have decided to rename the Abbey Stadium Sports Centre "Abbey Stadium".
The writing on the wall costs £45 a letter.
By trimming the name the council is spending £540 against a possible £1,035.
Chairman of the amenities community, Councillor Gordon Quincy, said: "As far as I'm concerned it is the Abbey Stadium, anyway, and it always will be.
"Everyone knows it as that, so whatever we call it they will call it Abbey Stadium."
