WORCESTER Warriors go in search of their own piece of rugby history at Wakefield on Saturday.
The Sixways club, currently 13 points clear of Orrell at the National One summit after winning all of their league games this season, will break Rotherham's 18-match winning streak of last year if they can claim victory at College Grove.
Northampton also went through 18 games unbeaten back in 1996 when they won the Division One title but Rotherham still hold the overall record from the 1999-2000 season when they won 22 games in succession at this level.
Director of rugby John Brain, however, is insisting that his players keep their feet on the ground for the 19th league game of the season.
"We are aware of the record and know we will break it if we win at Wakefield," said Brain. "There is obviously a lot of confidence around the club at the moment but what we've got to make sure is that confidence doesn't turn into arrogance.
"We've got a 13-point lead at the top of the table but we know Wakefield are going to be fighting for their lives because they are in a relegation fight. We certainly won't take them lightly."
Worcester have already lost once at College Grove this season when they crashed out of the Powergen Cup with a fifth round 18-17 defeat. That loss, however, came in the wake of Worcester's decision to play a second string team in order to rest key players. Twelve victories later, that tactic has more than paid dividends.
Ironically, six of the players on show that day will start for the Warriors in Yorkshire. Jon Hylton, David Officer, Chris Garrard, Matt Powell, Mark Gabey and Lee Fortey all play while new signing Neil Cole is handed a place on the bench.
Tommy Hayes continues at fly-half because of James Brown's thumb injury, while Gary Trueman comes in for Ben Hinshelwood who will play for Scotland against Wales in the Six Nations.
Russell Earnshaw is edged out after Gavin Pfister proved his fitness, while hooker Ben Daly is recalled after recovering from a rib injury.
Team: O'Leary; Garrard, Officer, Trueman, Hylton; Hayes, Powell; Windo, Daly, Fortey, Gabey, Gillies, Bates, Pfister, Hickey. Reps: Cole, Brown, Murray, Hall, Lyman, Zaltzman, C. Evans.
