WORCESTER Rugby Club have swooped for Natal Sharks scrum-half Neil Cole.
The 24-year-old jetted into Sixways on Saturday to watch the 74-8 demolition of Manchester and will now stay on for the next three months. Cole has enjoyed some Super 12 and Currie Cup games but has been mainly playing second team rugby in South Africa.
However, after club captain Werner Swanepoel contracted viral meningitis last week, Worcester decided to take the number nine on trial until the end of the season to bolster their promotion chasing squad.
"We've seen a tape and he looks a good player," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain. "We see him as a player who can offer competition for places. He's featured in some Super 12 and Currie Cup games but is looking to move to England.
"Obviously, Werner's contracted a debilitating illness and we expect him to be out for around three or four weeks. Cole will be registered to play at Wakefield on Saturday."
