HEREFORD United coach John Trewick believes tonight's LDV Vans Trophy opponents Doncaster Rovers are the perfect role model for clubs looking to escape from the Nationwide Conference.
The South Yorkshire club have enjoyed a rapid rise through the leagues over the last two seasons, achieving back-to-back promotions from the Conference and the former Division Three, and now stand 11th in Coca-Cola League One.
Ironically, Rovers' last non-league encounter was a 4-2 victory at Edgar Street on the final game of the 2002/03 campaign, with Doncaster chairman John Ryan coming on as a late substitute at the age of 52.
The Bulls progressed to the second round of the LDV Vans Trophy after dumping out League Two outfit Scunthorpe on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Trewick reckons United have enough in their locker to send another Football League club hurtling out of the competition.
He said: "We don't know what sort of side Doncaster will bring down here. They may make four or five changes but whatever side they play, it will be competitive. We can go into the game with a relaxed attitude because we are the underdogs."
Midfield Rob Purdie, who missed Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round victory over Radcliffe Borough with a groin strain, could be fit to return but defender Andy Tretton continues to miss out with a hamstring injury.
