DOES anybody know who is running the Worcester division of the First Company?
After reading the article about bus cuts, (P5, Evening News, Friday, October 22), I am surprised that there hasn't been a revolt among the passengers.
The bus cuts are just a small drop in the ocean, in what seems to be a constant pursuit of the First Bus Company to alienate its customers and lose any credibility that it once had.
When I lived in Bristol where the bus services are also run by First, the service is superior in every way.
It seems to me that First likes Bristol and its citizens, and provides a cheap and reliable bus service that is used frequently, even during off-peak periods.
Worcester is not comparable in size and population, but I think that they could apply some of the practices that they have used in Bristol, and make the bus service in Worcester more of a public service.
I have now taken to walking into town and if I have enough money I may catch the bus back as a treat. The bus service should not be a treat - it should be a service that is accessible to all.
ROBERT JANSEN,
St Peter's, Worcester.
