LOCAL pool ace Darrell Bareham has finished this season's Strachan International Pool Tour with his best run yet.
County captain Bareham, from Chawson, Droitwich Spa, reached the last 128 of Event Six at the Brighton Hilton - equalling his best finish on the tour featuring the best amateur players in the country, but won two matches in the process.
Bareham, who has won a maximum of one at previous events, defeated Dean Torode 7-6 in the qualifying round before seeing off Peter Ashman by the same score in the next round. But he was beaten 7-4 in the last 128 by Nicky Parnell.
Currently 81st on the tour's ranking list, Bareham started the season well by winning a match at each of the first three events, including last 128 appearances at Wembley (Event Two) and Coventry (Event Three).
But he did not play the last one in Coventry and fell at the first hurdle at Event Four in Blackpool in July.
