A WARNDON councillor has called for one of the last remaining green spaces in the area not to be ruined by a mobile telephone mast.
Telephone company O2 has proposed a 13-metre high base station on the western side of Woodgreen Drive, by the roundabout at Dugdale Drive, and has asked Warndon Parish Council for its views.
Councillor Yvonne Griffiths said it would be a shame if the area of land had a mast built on it.
She said: "This is one of the few open spaces we have in the parish. It's an eyesore and we don't want to look out at a row of poles.
"Don't think I'm not very sympathetic with people who have difficulty getting mobile phone coverage, I just think it shouldn't be so obtrusive.
"There's something nice about going along Woodgreen Drive towards the hospital thinking we are somewhere out in the open with a bit of freedom, that there's still some open spaces in Warndon Villages."
The plans are still at an early stage with no official planning application having been submitted by O2.
