POLICE are seeking information after a police motorbike and car were rammed in a dramatic chase last Wednesday just after 2.40pm.
The incident happened as officers carried out an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operation on the A435 in Wythall, near Wythall Island.
A white Volvo Estate was stopped by a police motorcyclist and pulled into the Texaco garage forecourt.
When the driver was asked for his details, officers became suspicious and the man in the car rammed the motorbike parked in front.
He drove off towards the M42 island where he tried to ram a police car also involved in the traffic operation.
The officers followed the car along Forshaw Heath Lane where the man reversed into the police car three more times - forcing it into a hedge.
The car, although damaged, was still operational and officers continued to follow the Volvo along Forshaw Heath Road into Rumbush Lane and then into Norton Lane where he drove off towards Earlswood.
The police car was too badly damaged to continue to follow.
At 7.35pm, police were called to a report of a car being set on fire in Sainsbury's car park on the Abbey Trading Estate, Redditch.
It is believed to be the same car that had rammed the police vehicles.
Pc Tony Wright from the Traffic and Operations Department at West Mercia Constabulary HQ said: "We're keen to hear from anyone who may have seen who dumped this car in Sainsbury's car park and set fire to.
"Fortunately, only police vehicles were damaged and no officers were hurt. It was also lucky no members of the public became involved."
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, clean shaven and slightly tanned.
He had short, dark hair, spoke with a north Midlands accent and was wearing a casual, dark tracksuit top with white sleeves, navy tracksuit bottoms and blue trainers.
Anyone with information can call the Traffic and Operations Department on 08457 444 888.
