Redditch Ladies 2
Harborne Ladies 1
A BREAK from league action saw Redditch Ladies pit their sticks against Harborne in a friendly encounter on Saturday morning.
Emma Preston opened the scoring for Redditch with a well taken shot from a penalty corner as the home side dominated the early exchanges.
But despite some attractive hockey with good passing moves from the ladies, Harborne equalised when a fierce shot flew high into the corner giving the Redditch goalkeeper no chance.
Sophie Laxton's first goal of the season saw Redditch go into the break with a slight advantage as she despatched a neat shot into the corner.
A half-time reshuffle saw Angela Taylor come off through injury but with Harborne pushing for the equaliser Claire Steadman was on hand to make a number of strong clearances.
Redditch resume league action next week at home to Worcester (3pm start).
