HAVING read the article regarding the proposal to improve access to Mill Lane, Bromsgrove, I also recall a previous article which outlined a plan to build shops there.
If this is still the plan, it is suggested that a footbridge is built over Market Street and Mill Lane meeting the High Street at Iceland. The new shops could be built on two levels with a walkway on the upper level linked to the footbridge. Provided that buses enter Mill Lane from the Iceland end, the footbridge and walkway could also provide a sheltered area for passengers waiting for buses and taxis.
This proposal would allow the pedestrian crossing on Market Street to close, reduce the number of people crossing Mill Lane and obviate the need for a bus shelter. It would also double the number of shops that could be accommodated in Mill Lane and guide shoppers from ASDA and the car park to the High Street via the new shops.
