A BROMSGROVE girl will be pirouetting her way to the big time after performing with the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain on the BBC Television programme Blue Peter.
Rebekah Thawley, of Smite Hill, Hindlip, is a pupil at Droitwich Spa High School and she has been ballet dancing since she was three-and-a-half-years-old at a stage school in Perdiswell.
She was a junior associate with the Royal Ballet and then last year appeared in her first performance with the National Youth Ballet.
Rebekah played Tweedle Dum in Alice in Wonderland in Sevenoaks, Kent, last week, and will be performing at the Birmingham Hippodrome this Sunday.
Rebekah has also won a role in her school's Christmas production.
Rebekah's dad Alan Thawley said: "She has always been very keen on singing and acting as well as dancing. She would like to do something with her interest when she is older, such as choreography."
She appeared on Blue Peter on Wednesday with the National Youth Ballet and performed an excerpt from their show.
Rebekah got to meet the presenters and had a wonderful day out.
Alan said: "She had a great day and everyone at Blue Peter was very nice to her."
He said of the performances in Sevenoaks: "Of course, I am biased, but I thought the shows were absolutely smashing and very professional."
Rebekah has had to travel down to Chelsea for rehearsals every Sunday in September and October - meaning a big commitment for her parents to carry out.
Alan added: "It is a big commitment, but we are happy to do it. It is a good interest to have, it is healthy and keeps her out of trouble!"
