MEMBERS met in the village hall and were first entertained by Virginia Davis telling us about her early career covering a series of interesting jobs taking her from years on the flower market through to a time with Esso in the Middle East.

Our guest speaker, Julia Scott, then took the floor telling us of her time with her husband turning her garden back to its Victorian splendour. They are great believers in the benefits of herbs and their use in complimentary medicine. She brought with her some plants and also introduced us to non-invasive treatments that restore and maintain the healthy balance of the body and mind, of which she has had personal experience.

This talk gave us much food for thought and Ruth Bottomley gave the vote of thanks.

Peggy Mears won the competition for an arrangement in a kitchen utensil and the flower of the month was a Michaelmas Daisy brought in by Gladys Lewis.

Our next meeting will be next Tuesday at 7.30pm in the village hall, when the speaker will be Liz Nicholson on Christmas.
