OUR president Dot Waldron welcomed a good attendance to our October meeting.

Details of the teams we would be playing in the county WI skittle competition had now been received and Pat Kay would arrange an early match to start us off.

The splendid day out at Highrove House was discussed with the president warmly thanking all the members for their hard work in arranging the day and the pleasant travel facilities.

A knit-a-thon, in aid of The Children's Society, will be held next Wednesday and sponsor forms have already been handed out. Our speaker was Mike Ledbury with Confessions of a Morris Dancer Man. During his talk, Mike asked for some audience participation to which Gladys Lewis heroically responded, with the rest of us going through the motions sitting down.

We found Mike's deadpan, understated style of humour very entertaining and Pat Tonks expressed thanks for his delightful presentation. The winner of A Last Rose of Summer competition was Joyce Parkes with her rose Compassion. The president thanked the ladies concerned for both the flowers and the tea.

Our next meeting will be held next Monday at 2pm in the village hall, where there will be a special table for the display of members' handicraft.
