CYNTHIA Caldicott conducted the October meeting of Catshill WI in the absence of our president. She began by congratulating the five birthday girls of the month, including Marge Grant, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday towards the end of October. Get well wishes were sent to Joan Flowerday.
Members were reminded of the forthcoming visit to Telford in November. Tickets are still available. Names were also taken for the group carol service in December at the Methodist Centre in Bromsgrove.
Cynthia then appealed to members with a talent for numbers and figures to take over from our current treasurer Joan, who will be retiring next month after many years of dedicated service.
With business over for the evening, the guest speaker - Janis Waldron - entertained members with an interesting talk on the art of making bead jewellery. She displayed beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earrings, all made with semi-precious stones and pearls.
Christine Clarke, with her unusual choker necklace, won the competition for the evening.
The November AGM will be held next Monday at Catshill Village Hall. Members old and new will be very welcome.
